Police have taken a driver into custody following a serious Arizona
car accident. The car crash occurred in Valley on a recent Saturday afternoon at approximately
4:30 p.m. According to a police officer familiar with the incident, it
happened after a sedan turned onto the freeway, flew across all traffic
lanes and cut off a motorcyclist.
The driver of the motorcycle collided with the sedan and was thrown off
his bike. The motorcyclist incurred serious injures as a result. However,
police say that the male driver of the sedan chose to flee the accident
scene rather than stopping to speak with police, as is required by law.
Instead, the man driver allegedly left the injured motorcyclist for dead.
Later, the fleeing driver was involved in a second auto crash. Police allege
that the man ran away from the second crash on foot. Police from Phoenix,
Glendale and the Department of Public Safety proceeded to search for the
runaway man, who was dressed in all black. Later, they found him in a
cornfield and arrested him. Police are currently conducting a driving
under the influence investigation regarding both crashes.
Arizona residents who suffer injuries caused by a drunk driver in a car
crash will have the opportunity to seek restitution under the law. While
the success of such a case cannot be guaranteed, a skilled personal injury
attorney can analyze crime scene evidence, police reports and eyewitness
accounts to assess the strengths and weaknesses of such a claim and select
the legal approach and strategy best suited for the situation.
