Gendale, Arizona Car Accident Kills Jogger

Arizona is a popular place for outdoor recreation, and both residents and tourists alike to go out for an early morning stroll, run or jog. In most cases, this happens without incident. Of course, everyone needs to be careful, whether on foot or passing by in a vehicle, to avoid the kind of occurrence that just happened in a Glendale vehicle accident.

The accident occurred at approximately 5:20 a.m. on a Friday morning. It happened in Glendale, Arizona, east of 75th Avenue. A Glendale police officer gave details about it to the press.

According to the police officer, two women were jogging eastbound on the roadway, making their way along the south side of Beardsley Road. At that time, a vehicle approached from behind. The vehicle, a gray four-door sedan, struck one of the joggers.

The other jogger, a 44-year-old resident of Peoria, is understood to be fine and was not struck. However, her friend, 43, was seriously injured. That woman has now died as a direct result of the injuries that she suffered in this accident.

The driver of the car that struck her, a 42-year-old man, stayed at the scene and waited for police to arrive. The woman who had been struck was treated there and transported to the local hospital by air. However, it was too late, and she was pronounced dead at the hospital.

In this case, police don't believe that speed was a contributing factor. They haven't made a determination regarding possible distractions or impairment. Of course, there are many things that can factor into Arizona vehicle accidents, making each case unique.

Even though criminal charges may strengthen a personal injury case, it is not a requirement. At-fault drivers can be held responsible in the eyes of a civil court even if they were not criminally responsible.
