Extreme & Super Extreme DUI in Phoenix
Arrested for DUI in Phoenix with a High BAC Level?
Arizona's laws come down hard on individuals who have been accused of "driving while under the extreme influence of intoxicating liquor." If your blood or breath test came back positive with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.15% or greater, you may face enhanced charges and penalties for extreme DUI or super extreme DUI.
At Suzuki Law Offices, our Phoenix extreme DUI lawyers aggressively defend clients facing extreme drunk driving charges. Attorney Richard Suzuki has more than 10 years of experience in criminal law, including experience as a former Deputy Maricopa County Attorney.

The Penalties for Extreme DUI
An extreme DUI / DWI, or driving under the extreme influence of intoxicating liquor, is any DUI offense where the driver has a BAC between .15% and .19%.
Mandatory sentences and penalties for extreme DUI include:
- Approximately $2,500 in fines
- At least 30 days in jail (20 of which may be suspended)
- 90-day suspension of your driver's license
- Ignition interlock device for at least 12 months
- Possible community restitution
The Penalties for Super Extreme DUI
Similar to an extreme DUI, a super extreme DUI / DWI by definition is any DUI offense where the driver has a blood alcohol content of .20% or greater.
Mandatory sentences and penalties for super extreme DUI include:
- Approximately $3,000 in fines
- At least 45 days in jail and up to 180 days
- 90-day suspension of your driver's license
- Ignition interlock device for at least 18 months
- Possible community restitution
In both cases, you may be forbidden from drinking alcohol and required to undergo regular tests for alcohol use. Substance abuse counseling may be recommended. If you are accused of extreme or super extreme DUI for a second time, you face even greater penalties.

Challenging the Evidence in Your DUI Case
Most people assume that because they have submitted a breath or blood sample that showed a BAC of .15% or greater, they will automatically be convicted of extreme DUI. This is not necessarily true. Contrary to popular belief, these tests are not always 100% accurate. There are dozens of factors that could lead to inaccurate breathalyzer readings. For this reason, you should not hesitate to discuss your case with Suzuki Law Offices as soon as you have been arrested.
We have been defending clients in Phoenix, AZ for more than a decade, so we know what it takes to win a difficult case. The consequences of an extreme DUI conviction are serious, so it is crucial that you put your best foot forward in the courtroom. We will not only analyze the accuracy of your breath or blood test results, but we will investigate the circumstances of your DUI stop to ensure that your rights were not violated.
